Understanding American culture means understanding the blues. Emerging in post-emancipation America, the descendants of enslaved people transformed their struggle into artistry. We will trace the journey of the blues from its roots and unveil its influence up to and including the 21st century. In celebration of Black Music Appreciation Month and America 250, we welcome back Jaeme Brennan McDonald, Musician and Educator, for an engaging discussion highlighted by live performance.
