Event date: February 4, 2025
Event Time: 06:30 PM – 07:30 PM
Description:
BPL is excited to welcome back educator Jaeme McDonald for another inspiring Black History program. Throughout American history, the stories, images, and perspectives of Black Americans have been excluded, distorted, and undervalued. When Black screenwriters, filmmakers, and directors are given the power to shape the narrative, it changes whose stories are told and the ways in which they are told in the mainstream. From the birth of cinema, through the Civil Rights era, to Blaxploitation and its aftermath, to modern Black filmmakers’ influence, we will explore the impact of how perspectives have changed for the future of American culture.
